“1929” is carved into the grey stone atop the building which houses the 333 Café. What premièred as the lobby for Delmar's movie theatre (and the site of some of our regulars’ first dates) is now the kitchen and dining area of the 333 Café. After the movie theatre, lovingly known as “The Dump” lost its appeal, the building was renovated and the old lobby was used as a service station, a hardware store, and a few other things. As the building went through several incarnations, the owners began to see the opportunity of their site for the food industry. A small luncheonette offering small meals at a counter was opened and served as a central spot on Delaware Ave. The next owner continued the trend and opened a small pizza parlor offering Delmar residents a decidedly Italian menu, including wood fired pizzas. In 1999, after an unfortunate fire, Paul G. Hall purchased and renovated the restaurant and the 333 Café was born. Plans were set in motion for a restaurant offering exciting flavors and combinations, a relaxed atmosphere, a good wine list and a consistently fresh and changing menu. Chefs Chris Dangerfield and Libby Thomas, former co-worker at Ogden’s (a downtown restaurant Icon), came aboard and teamed up to create the exciting combinations of friendly and foreign food that have kept customers coming back.

Chris, whose career began in high School at the local Hofbräu, is the brains behind the menus. (333’s Oktoberfest is WUNDERBAR!!) His extensive experience from the Hofbräu to the vineyards of Napa, California working with "the food network's" Michael Chariallo at Trevigne, (world famous) Chandon Restaurant and Winery, upstate NY and back to the 333 Café with impressive stops in between, is revealed in his cooking. Libby's love of world cuisine and interesting combinations, paired with an academic background is the compliment to Chris's technical and artistic skills.
In August 2007, after several years as kitchen partners, Libby and Chris purchased the 333 Café. For the "foodies" of Bethlehem it is a reason not to have to leave town. Chris and Libby look to offer customers a place to come and have a great meal whether wearing silk or denim, in a friendly, cozy atmosphere. The 333 Café is also a very personal, accessible caterer who will tailor a menu to your situation. Continuing to develop new culinary ideas, explore new wines and make new friends: that is our ideal!
